Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you might want to know before meeting your cat.
What is HobbyCat?
HobbyCat is a hobby tracker designed for people who have many hobbies they love. Instead of tracking streaks, it gives each of your hobbies a home with a companion cat that earns toys when you log sessions.
Is HobbyCat a habit tracker?
No. HobbyCat deliberately avoids habit-tracker mechanics — no streaks, no 'you broke your chain' guilt, no daily punishment. It treats your hobbies as part of who you are, not tasks to complete.
How is HobbyCat different from apps like Streaks, Habitica, or Strides?
Those apps are built around daily consistency and streaks. HobbyCat uses three states — Active, Backlog, and Interested in trying — so hobbies can rest without penalty. You move them freely, any time.
Who is HobbyCat for?
People with multiple creative or personal hobbies — crochet, painting, music, reading, pottery, language learning — who want one calm place to log sessions and see their progress without pressure. Especially loved by multi-passionate people and those who've bounced off habit trackers.
How much does HobbyCat cost?
HobbyCat is free forever for up to 3 active hobbies with full session logging and a companion cat. Pro is $4.99/month or $34.99/year for unlimited hobbies, full history, advanced stats, and premium accessories. The first 500 members get Founding pricing at $14.99/year locked in for life.
What platforms does HobbyCat run on?
HobbyCat runs on iOS, Android, and the web. Your data syncs automatically across all devices.
Does HobbyCat work offline?
Yes. You can log sessions offline and they sync when you reconnect.
Will HobbyCat send me reminders?
Only if you want them. Reminders are gentle and optional — HobbyCat never sends 'you missed a day' messages or guilt-based nudges.
Is my hobby data private?
Yes. Your hobbies, sessions, and notes are yours. HobbyCat does not sell data, share it with third parties, or use it to train AI models. See our privacy policy for details.
What is Mochi?
Mochi is your personal companion cat. Each hobby also has its own cat, holding a tool specific to that hobby (a crochet hook, a paintbrush, guitar strings). Logging sessions earns toys and lifts Mochi's mood — gently, without streaks.
